Project Brief - Convert rear section of existing garage space into utility room

About this project - There must be something about babies arriving that demands a dedicated laundry space, our second project this year with this combination. In this case the front of the garage was remaining as a storage area so no changes to garage door access, just the rear half of the garage space to convert into a fully insulated utility room.
This garage conversion was slightly different as the garage was detached from the main house. The main challenge was bringing the water supply across from the main house under the patio and steps. Electrics were also upgraded to support the laundry appliances, lighting and heating chosen.
The existing service door was upgraded to UPVC to help support insulation properties and raised to a higher position to allow for the extra depth needed in the floor for insulation. Being detached we were able to install a rooflight to allow more daylight into the space.
This garage conversion has created a spacious laundry area that this family didn’t have beforehand and also has space for the exercise bike.
